Active Components Of Ginseng Extract Can Assist Cancer Treatment
Oct 07, 2019
American researchers reported 15 days ago that animal research shows that ginseng extract active ingredient Panax three alcohol and similar compounds can help alleviate some side effects of cancer therapy.
Researchers at the Research Institute of the Cancer Research Institute of the Chinese Medicine Institute of the Chinese Academy of medicine synthesized a compound similar to Panax acetylene three alcohol, and then experimented in a laboratory mouse with breast cancer or colon cancer to test the ability of the compound to counteract the side effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The results showed that injecting this compound into experimental mice before receiving radiotherapy could reduce the weight loss and blood cell damage caused by radiotherapy.
Researchers believe that Panaxatriol and similar compounds can reduce peripheral nerve damage and weight loss caused by paclitaxel, and reduce erythrocyte and leukocyte damage caused by 5-fluorouracil, thereby reducing the risk of infection and anemia in drug users.
The research results were published in a new issue of the Journal of the National Academy of Sciences. Researchers say Panaxatriol and similar compounds can be a clinical option for adjuvant cancer treatment. However, the chemical structure of ginsentriol analogues needs to be optimized before clinical testing.
